Connecting a healthcare platform to the Lazio Region's system
An integration that lets a medical booking platform send and receive documents with the Lazio Region's healthcare systems, following the standards the region requires.
- Client
- A digital healthcare company in Italy
- Year
- 2025
- Role
- Backend engineer, in a team of about six developers
Context
The platform lets patients book medical appointments and manage their visits, while doctors organize their schedule, issue prescriptions and keep patient records. I joined its team of about six developers for three months.
Problem
The platform needed to exchange medical documents with the Lazio Region's healthcare system, and every document had to follow the technical standards the region requires.
What I built
I joined a product that was already running, as part of an existing team. The part I owned from start to finish was the integration with the Lazio Region.
- Sending documents. The platform sends medical documents to the regional healthcare system, in the format the region requires.
- Receiving documents. Documents coming back from the regional healthcare system are received and brought into the platform.
- Working within the team. Alongside the integration I fixed bugs across the backend and worked on parts of the Vue.js frontend, keeping the product stable while new features shipped.
Tech used
- TypeScript
- Node.js
- NestJS
- Vue.js
Result
Delivered the integration with the Lazio Region's healthcare system, in line with its required standards
